is a West Coast institution.

And one of the keys to their success has been keeping it simple.

There are only four food items on

the  

menu:

Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Double-Double,

and French Fries.

compliments the food with the standard array

of Coca-Cola beverages and three shakes:

chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

And that’s the menu in its entirety,

*or at least that’s what they want you to think.

The truth of the matter is that there is an extensive

'Secret Menu'

available for those in the know.

In fact, the secret items actually outnumber the items legitimately on the menu.

This isn't just stuff made up by bored employees.

If you order a burger 'Animal Style',

'Animal Style' prints out on your receipt.

It’s in the computer.

There is lots of information out there on the Internet about the secret menu,

but no one seems to have gotten it all,

and a lot of what is out there is just plain wrong. Nothing is more embarrassing than ordering a secret item that doesn't exist.

So, through diligent research,

I have managed to produce what I believe

is the definitive guide to the

**The

'Secret Menu'

is probably the most legendary of ALL hidden menus... 

Any item on the

regular menu list can be enhanced,

and/or combined to create these 'not so secret' masterpieces...

What's on the 

???

FRIES

Fries Light:

an order of fries cooked halfway thru;

soggy, oily, and extremely tender...

Fries Well Done:

an order of fries cooked 'almost' twice as long;

so crispy, you'll think your eating potato chips...

Cheese Fries:

an order of fries cooked 'almost' twice as long;

so crispy, you'll think your eating potato chips...

Fries/Animal Style:

an order of fries w/two slices of melted cheese,

grilled onions, and burger sauce, plopped on top.

You'll need a fork to eat them.

BURGERS

Extra Toast:

For an extra crisp bite;

get the hamburger bun (of any sandwich) 'extra toasted'.

Leaving them on the grill for just a minute longer...

Veggie Burger/Wish Burger:

this meat-less wonder has tons of grilled onions, lettuce, pickles, and sauce with double tomatoes.

Grilled Cheese:

this meat-less wonder has tons of grilled onions, lettuce,

pickles, and sauce with double tomatoes.

Mustard Grilled Patty:

Before grilling, the burger is slathered with mustard.

Alas, the Mustard Grilled Patty...

Plain Burger, no-Toast Bun:

just as it states;

a plain burger, on a plain bun...

Flying Dutchman:

Two beef patties, two slices of cheese. That’s it.

No lettuce. No onions. No bun.

*Rumor has it that this item was created for people to

feed to their dogs at one of the original In-N-Out’s

with walk-up service...

Flying Dutchman/Animal Style:

The same-same as above,

but loaded...

Medium Rare:

any burger can be ordered

'medium rare'.

*Which means you get a pink center,

and somewhat crunchy on the outside...

Chopped Grilled Onions:

Chopped Caramelized Onions.

Cooked down in the collected meat juices

on the hot griddle,

to add a sweet and savory kick to every bite...

Whole Grilled Onions:

Whole Caramelized Onions.

Prepared exactly as 'the chopped version'...

*and just as tasty.

Chopped Chilies:

You can request any burger with 'Chopped Chilies'.

ie: Chopped Sport Peppers... 

Mustard/Ketchup:

ok then.

So your not a fan of the 'secret sauce',

you can request mustard or ketchup.

Or both...

Cold Cheese:

you don't want the gooey taste of melted cheese?

(Or maybe you want it to melt on it's own)

Just say;

"Cold Cheese please"...

Protein Style:

Any burger

(with all the fixings)

on the regular or 'secret' menu,

wrapped in extra lettuce instead of a bun.

*Great if you’re doing Adkins...

Cut-In-Half:

Any burger 'split' and served in individual bags.

*excellent for kids, or 'friend-sharing'...

2xMeat:

(3xMeat, 4xMeat... etc)

regular hamburger w/'double/triple' meat.

*no cheese... 

4x4:

(4 meat patties, 4 cheese slices)

You can order ANY meat/cheese combo you wish.

order 'meat' first, then 'cheese'.

*ie: '2x4' is 2 burgers, 4 slices of cheese...

100x100:

the in-famous 100x100 served in a box...

Animal Style:

the best of the best.

This is probably the most famous Secret Menu item;

a mustard-cooked beef patty w/additional pickles, cheese, grilled onions, special sauce, all diced up and mixed together on the grill before getting dumped on your burger.

You can get any burger done Animal Style...

*7 May 2014:

I've had quite a few inquiries concerning

'the Monkey Burger'.

(a 'made-up' concoction by a dedicated fan during the summer of 2013)

it is 'not' a 'secret menu' item from

but 'you can' make it yourself;

'Animal Style Fries' inside a 'regular cheeseburger'. 

Monkey Burger:

burger was 'created' by a dutiful fan

during the Summer of 2013.

*Shown here with

'light special sauce'

and

'Monkey Double Onions'

(chopped/grilled on top, raw sliced below)

**I tried this on a double-double,

yes-it was indeed pretty damn tasty,

but OMG it was beyond messy...

DRINKS

Large/Extra-Large Shakes:

these sizes are 'not' listed on the menu,

but their available. just ask...

Flavored Shakes:

Amos & Andrew......chocolate/vanilla

Chocolate Strawberry..........strawberry/chocolate

Neapolitan..chocolate/vanilla/strawberry (shown)

Strawberry Creme...... strawberry/vanilla

Rootbeer Float:

self explanatory, a summer-time favorite...

**you can also 'request' any soda combination

that they have on tap;

ice tea/lemonade, coke/7up, root-beer/sprite... etc.  

EXTRA'S

Side Salad:

Only 'a few' hard-core employees with tenure

will actually know what this is.

So your best bet would be to order;

"Extra lettuce, tomatoes, onions on the side in a bag"

And BOOM,

you got yourself a dinner salad also.

No Charge!!!

*Don't forget to order extra sauce

(in the packets)

and even a few peppers packets

(as you pick-up your order)

to complete the ensemble...

Special Sauce:

'compare to' thousand island dressing,

but a little more flavorful.

*they can slather 'extra' on your burger,

and/or give you a packet or two...

Peppers:

you can either ask for a packet of these flavor-bombs,

or request they be diced on your burger...

Extras:

**you can also request extra sauce, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and onions (raw/grilled)...

SPECIAL REQUESTS:

Hat:

if you ask for one,

it's yours...

Stickers:

Absolutely!

You have your choice of;

a classic

bumper sticker

(crossed palm trees over a white background),

or a 16-piece sticker-puzzle that features a couple of boys hiding behind a car and being very naughty.

*speaking of 'naughty;

if you feel 'the need' to truly express yourself,

you can cut the 'B' & 'R' off the sticker:
